...you've paid to get home?

The train is coming,
and the boat is coming,
its those bridges that fold open when a ship wants to go through.

Has anyone recently traveled using amtracks economy class?

From their website

"In most Amtrak trains, First Class and Business Class seats and sleepers have standard 110-volt electrical power outlets available to supply power for electronic devices. Very few outlets are available, however, at Coach Class seats."

What are few? Im taking that means none.

Anyway, does anyone know if they have those cigarette power adapters that you have in cars? 12V I think it is. Thanks!

I have heard that there are a number of train stations on the London Underground where no trains stop at them anymore, but they are still there (i.e. the tracks have been removed, but they never destroyed the platform).

I remember also that it was possible to see at least one of those stations on a regular journey.

So, where are they?!

What do you think about large people getting on the train and then sitting in the middle of two normal sized people knowing that they are NOT going to fit. As a result you have their fat *** sitting all over you like a human tidal wave ( it's not right )

Then the cheek of it is that they look at you like it's your fault there isn't enough room to fit their fat *** in the gap.

I think the train company needs to fit arm rests to each seat or start charging for two tickets.

I've sometimes wished that I never took a liking to trains after having to watch track after track being abandoned and ripped up. I wish that I just took them for granted like the non-railfan and been spared the knowledge of the slow decline of the railways. I should have got into NFL football or Basketball or some other pastime not in decline. Do you ever feel this way? Any comments or suggestions on staying positive about the rails?

I have seen some older abandoned crossings where the rails are assimilated with the pavement thus not causing annoying jumps and bangs to your car when going across it and having to worry if the eggs broke. so why not make all the crossing like this?

Ok we hear about so much about driving going around the gates to beat the train. Also about the railroad now putting gates on both sides. Why don't they just make them longer to block the entire road on that particular side of the crossing? Then they would not have to go through the trouble of installing another base with a gate on it.
