I'm going to Newcastle next week and I've never been on a GNER train before. I'm just wondering does the driver always announce the next stop on GNER trains? Cheers.

The South West Trains website is, as always, unhelpful as possible. So i'd really appreciate if anyone who's taken the journey knew roughly how much it costs could let me know!

Cheers.

i am thinkig in start a railroad career as a conductor after NARS or Modoc course, but i have some doubts:i know that life at home will not be easy, however,my girlfriend has in mind that i will spend lots of hours out of home and she understands that,i also know that the pay is good and is a job that i will love to do,but is really worth it?i mean,i will earn enough and spare money to take care of my family, but i'm affraid to work a week without stoping at home, that will bi really bad;if i work 12 hours, what are the mandatory hours for rest at home?other thing that i need to know is how is going to be(in the future) the train engineers "office",modern diesel locos are compturized but they could have more confortable cabs,I think that train engineers deserve a cab with conditions equal to common offices(A/C,LCD displays, etc)

Well,i hope an answer as well an opinion to help me on my decision...

Thanks for your attention and greetings for all train engineers

I live near Hampden Park - officially the most busy rail crossing in Europe.

Often, the barrier goe's down and the flashing red lights come on at least a whole minute before the train crosses - obviously this leads to frustration with the drivers waiting.

Are there any UK Railway Engineers/Guards out there who can explain this.

Is it a safety regulation that the barriers have to be lowered long before the train crosses??

Thanks.

I left home at noon yesterday to go to the bus station. Arrive in Boston at 7:30 pm. The train station is just a couple hundred feet away, but the train doesn't leave until noon today. It will take three days to get to Portland Oregon. I could have been there hours ago for almost the same price, but its raining there and I'm in no rush.

After seeing "Train Wrecks" on Fox Reality, I respect the power of trains so much that I'm scared of them! Who else feels that way? And do you think I have every right to fear trains?

Train suicides or 'one under's can affect the drivers of the trains as well as the suicidal person's family. I want to know whether there is anything talking about how driver's are affected by such situations.

We often see rail tracks crossing or merging in one other to facilitate trains divert their tracks. Can anyone please guide me to view a picture with most number of tracks criss-crossing one other at one place, making it the most complicated rail track in the world?

Is it possible to get a train from Shenfield to Cambridge? I don't think you can get a straight train from one to the other, but what stations do you change at? Also, how far is the cambridge train station from the corn exchange?
thanks

I went on qjump.com and its £27 return from torquay to bristol but singles are only £7.50. This is for the same day return journey.
Its really confusing I actually wanted to go to bristol parkway but the £7.50 was to bristol temple meads. for some reason a single to parkway was £26 even though a return between to bristol station is only £2.70. Its all too weird and confusing!

I was thinking this morning....and common sense is telling me that there would be a back up system.

If you was travelling on a train and there was a power cut. Then would the train stop or would an emergency supply of electricity continue it along its journey?

Thank you
