I'm going to Newcastle next week and I've never been on a GNER train before. I'm just wondering does the driver always announce the next stop on GNER trains? Cheers.

Yes, the next station stop is always announced by an electronically recorded message (not said by the driver but by a female pre-recorded voice) which goes: "We will shortly be arriving in .... (in your case Newcastle). Please make sure you take all your personal belongings with you."

GNER have manual announcements. You'll know when you are arriving aswell because the train will cross the tyne (look out for the bridges)

The driver doesn't announce them, the train conductor does, reminding you 'to take all your luggage with you'.
