It seems that the much touted hydrogen fuel cell won't be the savior that we once thought. It costs a lot of money to manufacture hydrogen, and it requires burning coal, which creates pollution (at the factory, not in the car), plus they can't store enough energy to make the car go over 50 mph. So what are we left with? Electric cars have same problem-storage batteries aren't sufficient to power a car for long periods of time. Solar power seems impractical (what if it's cloudy or raining?) and anti-matter is so expensive to produce it's nothing more than a pipe dream. So what will we use to power our cars in the future? Magnetic levitation? Nuclear fusion? Some technology on the drawing boards we haven't seen yet?

Are bus companys allowed to call their buses green when they stink! And who checks up on them to make sure they are. If you have only got 5 people on a bus including the driver and its creating more carbon dioxide than 5 cars its not green.

I hate car parks and all that is to do with traffic wardens.
I want to make a badge for my car in order to 'keep' traffic wardens away.
Any ideas?

As weird as it sounds, I think this is my only talent?

I have been so drunk, I could not say my own name, yet I could drive home, 10 miles....

I know people can "think" they can drive drunk, but this is for real. I have crawled to my truck, because I couldn't stand up, and still drove home...

Am I Bless with a gift?

I just bought a new Mini Cooper S a few months ago. The S has a 168hp supercharged engine.

When I'm driving normally or accelerating, and I quickly let go of the accelerator (happens often, braking for stop lights etc), I often hear one or two 'poof' 'poof' sounds coming from the engine/muffler. It's not very loud but definitely noticeable.

What is the origin of this sound? Is this normal on this engine or on a supercharged engine?

Have a 4x4 Gmc Sonoma truck -4300lbs. i want to get one of those hand wiches/come alongs(for portability) link: http://www.drpower.com/prdSell.aspx?Name=4TonComeAlong&p1Name=Garage&Chap=GarageTools. first, what do you think of them are they worth it? when i go off road and get stuck i need something to get me out if im the bigger 4x4. (no help from buddies). or to hook it to my vehicle for an anchor to help someone else out of a jam? do do these things hold up? second is the pulling capacity of tow ropes, straps or chains really a factor? some say 4k lb limit, 8 limit lb, 10k+lb limit. even the tow chains have like a 8k lb limit. its a metal chain! it should tow or pull a *#$% load right!? maybe the tow ropes would have a small tow capacity, but not so much the tow straps, and definitely not the chains? im not new to off roading, but am to towing and capacity. looking to bring the above winch/come along and like 50ft of towing meterial with me, and want to get the right stuff. help.

Been looking for a car lately, something cheap to get me along, work and school. Spotted an 86 el camino for about $1200. I'm already a fan of this old school vehicle and figure I could fix it up along the way as well (paint, rims, etc.) Would this be a good purchase, not to mention no monthly payments?

I don't smoke and could put the space to better use. Also, I see many smokers fling their butts out the window so it seems that they also don't use it.

I know they say every 3,000 miles but for cars like the Chrsyler Sebring, Nissan Altima, Toyota camry, Honda Accord, how many miles can you go before you start to get into trouble? Im guessing like 5,000 assuming you drive lightly on weekends and drive to work and back in rush hour traffic.

Ok guys first I will tell you problems and describe noises... then I will tell you what I have done to fix/check it. Please help me figure this out.

1- When I start my car the engine screams and then I floor the gas and the scream gets louder then stops and everything seems fine

2- I stop at a light with my heat on (Winter in NY), If the heat is on low no noise at all, Heat on med slight squeeking sound (sort of like the sound a hampster wheel makes when a hampster is running on it), The higher the heat the louder the noise, when the light turns green and I go it repeats the same noise as when I start the car in the morning then goes away

3- If I stop at a light and watch my battery indicator, Low heat not much change, higher heat the battery seems to drain, highest heat its drops drasticly BUT never completely drain, when I go again it goes back up to normal

Battery was recently charged and fluid was added (charge = normal)
Altenator is charging normal

There are going to be 2 couples and it is our senior prom. The gals are going to be paying for the ride and the guys pay for everything else. prom at my school is extremely expensive, so we get the deal! We want a freaking awesome car though. It can be limo, town car, whatever...but we checked rental stations and they won't rent out cars to 18 yrs old. But, I think we can pull some strings. So what is a pimp car that we can get that isn't ginormous but pretty sweet?
