Keep in mind some of these cars get 300 miles to the charge and can go upwards of 70 miles per hour. They do not require any gas whatsoever and are incredibly easy to maintain (all they need is a tire rotation and fluid refill every 5,000 miles). Stations for refueling can be placed in convienent locations just like gas pumps. The price is comparable to any car on the market, at $200-$500 dollars a month. I recently saw the documentary "Who Killed the Electric Car?" and was struck by the fact that even though every electric car owner wanted to continue to drive the car, and even raised enough money to buy out the leases and purchase every single car, GM was adament about confiscating the cars and crushing them. I'm not own for conspriracy theories, but it seemed like a real waste to take a fully functioning car and crush it for no apparent reason. So I was wondering, if you had the opportunity to own an electric car would you? And if not, why?

Our Labour gov't has just announced that road charging will be introduced. If the money raised from Road Fund Licences, duty on fuel, and speed camera fines were to be appropriated solely for road maintenance and provision, we would be able to replace every A road, every B road, and every unclassified road on the mainland within 6 years. That is replace - not just repair! Are we being ripped off or what? Any Americans out there enlighten me as to the cost of motoring in the US?

My boyfriend was reading a drifting magazine the other day and saw an article about a racer who had a parking brake that was called "The Awesome Handle". Where can I find one? He is working on a Nissan 240sx S13 (I think) and I wanted to buy him one for his birthday.

Usually, when you go to a dealer, you’ll find that information for new cars right on the window of the car. I’ve seen a free site that can give you this info for used cars. Anyone know which site?

I drive an automatic, but I'm just wondering if I "coast" when I'm coming up on a red light or stop sign, or even on the highway for a little while at a time, will I save gas? Is it not worth the hassle?

I know in the UK you drive on the left side of the road which means the steering wheel is on the right side.
Now, does that mean in a car with manual transmission the clutch is on the right side, too?
(left to right: accelerator pedal, brake, clutch)

Do you think that older drivers should have more restrictions placed on their driving?

I'm a teen driver, and I am currently going through my state's GDL program. Right now I have a probationary license, that restricts the hours that I can drive and how many people I can have in the car. I had to go to drivers ed for 2 hours every day for a month, and take 6 behind-the-wheel lessons with an instructor. In my state, all that elderly people have to do is take a vision test and get a new photo, yet they are the second most dangerous group of drivers after teenagers.

Should elderly drivers be subject to more restrictions, or should I just stay away from farmer's markets?

The Model A got 25mpg. Current cars get 'maybe' 40mpg. It's been 100 years. Cell phones have gone from 5 lbs and the size of a brick, to mere ounces and fit in the palm of your hand. Computers have gone from filling a building, to the size of a book. Airflight has gone from a few feet, to around the world at super sonic speed, and to outerspace. So---- in the face of all these facts, WHY has the mpg for automobiles NOT EVEN doubled in 100 years??? Given all the advances in ALL other fields, medicine, communication, science, even other forms of transportation (boats, ships, planes, spaceflight), we should have cars that are getting 300mpg or better!! WHY DON'T WE?!?!?!?!

I've never noticed this before, but I have a new car, plus I'm living now in a place where it is much colder. I warm up my car for 15 minutes sometimes. I've noticed that I have to fill my tank at a lower milage point lately too. Is this normal or might I have a problem??
