How did you do it? What's the legal position on removing it as long as you don't cause damage?

By the way, I'm talking about a private clamping company in the UK. Not a DVLA one.

Sounds like you want to join the seven million incarcerated souls. Those clamps are intended to disable your car so that you go in and pay the tickets that are outstanding against the car. They are designed to deter even the most determined from removing them. However, you will simply earn an additional charge of tampering if you do remove it, and if you damage it during the removal than you will have that added to the bill also. Most judges are civil enough to listen to your story and make arrangements for you to pay the ticket on a time payment basis or in some cases by performing community service. Just confront the issue and take your lumps.

Of course. Often. They are used as an alternative to towing when you have parked illegally. Call me, pay the removal fee and I'll be glad to take it off. Remove it, with or without damage, and I will use the VIN and license number to get your address and bill you accordingly. By the way, it's almost impossible to remove without causing damage, and the damage can be collected from your insurance.
