Apparently they are only 30% efficient which isnt very impressive. That is to say 70% of the energy in the fuel is lost through mechanical loss.

I have been reading about snow chains, and plan to buy some. I am debating between the newer "cable chain" and the "real chain". I drive a 4x4, and have read that having chains on the front tires can damage the front axle or other front parts (not sure what). Is this true?

I was just handed down a jeep grand cheroke, V6, 2WD, 180,000 miles. But in good shape, practically EVERYTHING was just replaced a week ago. Due to gas prices and the fact that i have no use for a jeep (hauling or towing anything). I want to know if i could go to one of those small car lots and just hand them the keys to my jeep and pick up anywhere from a 95-97 integra. Im not car savy, i realize there would be a little bit more legal things behind just handing keys over. But do car lots do that? To where without any cost to me i can go in a just trade a car? And if so could i possibley somthing like a 95 GSR for the jeep?

I currently live in the states, where i'm paying about $2.50/ gallon for gas. Thats not too bad, considering the prices in the Eurozone, but it kills me because i grew up in Saudi Arabia, where its currently going for 60cents (Used to be 90, but the king decided that was too much-not even kidding)
anyways, i travel back to saudi a lot and i got an idea: why not ship a barrel of saudi unleaded to the US? if shipping costs are prohibitively expensive, hey, why not ship 5 or 6 barrels. Im sure the price difference will offset the shipping.
anyone know the limitations or legislation against something like this? are there differences in US/Saudi gasoline that would give customs an excuse to sieze my goods?

the terrarium is the exo-terra model from www.aquariumsdirect.com and the galactic cruiser is an Mk1 as can be seen in model form here: http://www.starshipmodeler.com/Other/dd_leif.htm . its easy to get it into the bridge, but the seats in the back of the cabin were just not made for terrarium attachment straight from the factory.

Does braking harder make you use more gas? Or should you start breaking slowly at a distance? And going faster means more gas? Thank you.

I know that hybrid cars are a combination of gas and electric energy, but I don't exactly understand how it is that it works. How is it that these cars are more environmentally friendly, and why do they get better gas mileage?

how to arrange for the person to immediately take over payments, so we won't be liable for any accidents, etc. while the vehicle is still in our name. I have relatives who did the takeover payments route a few times. thanx

I work for a preschool driving kids to and from school. For the last month or so someone has been stealing gas out of our vans.

Any ideas on either how to stop it or catch the person/people?

We already thought about the locking gas cap....but they theives will just cut the gas lines.
