I currently live in the states, where i'm paying about $2.50/ gallon for gas. Thats not too bad, considering the prices in the Eurozone, but it kills me because i grew up in Saudi Arabia, where its currently going for 60cents (Used to be 90, but the king decided that was too much-not even kidding)
anyways, i travel back to saudi a lot and i got an idea: why not ship a barrel of saudi unleaded to the US? if shipping costs are prohibitively expensive, hey, why not ship 5 or 6 barrels. Im sure the price difference will offset the shipping.
anyone know the limitations or legislation against something like this? are there differences in US/Saudi gasoline that would give customs an excuse to sieze my goods?

Nice idea but the cost of shipping would probably kill it. Plus I don't think you could find a company thats willing to move something as dangerous as barrels of gas.

You could make a lot more money smuggling booze to Saudi Arabia, and bringing back hashish. About as smart too.
