Mostly because of their size. Police departments require full size, 4 door cars. Usually models that can be ordered from the factory with a police package.

Not many manufacturers offer models with a police package. The police package usually includes heavy duty suspension, brakes, and special tires. The include performance enhancements such as re-tuned engine computer and other engine modifications. They usually have frame stiffeners and extra bracing in the driver's door. They generally have less chrome, steel wheels, vinyl seats and floors.

Dodge is going to re-enter the police interceptor market soon. Using Hemi Chargers.

All car mfgs bid for police car contract. Chevy happen to win the last round because of the better equipment package they offered for the money. Police cars are built different than the regular cars you see on the lot. They are really a shell with a whole different monster under the hood.

Police cars require more horse power, a stiffer suspension, rear wheel drive, a beefier brake system, larger power distribution system, and those very uncomfortable back seats.

Depends on the police department. They get fleet contracts with dealers, and the car companies provide only a certain model or two in their product line as being appropriate for law enforcement. You'll find towns that use Crown Victorias, and there are even some that use Camaros for highway police.

technically these are not you impala or lumina they are specialy designed cars that are set up specially for police work. You can buy the enforcer( the basic cop car) at certain dealerships but they are not made to tthe same standards as the actual cop cars

'Cause the Crown Victoria went bye, bye. Seriously, Chevy does a really nice incentive program and offers options packages on the cars that make them more suited to police work than your average sedan.

For their price they're they are the fastest and cheapest cars. They also are one of the strongest framed cars on the market in case they get hit. Plus Chevy gives a ton of price breaks.

Most police packages made by Ford are assembled in the Oakville Ford Plant in Oakville Ontario as well as taxis.

I think I read somewhere that they based their decision on over all performance and crash test results. Maybe someone has some actual proof of that. (Or maybe Chevy gave them the best deal, lol)
