I just purchased a 1999 Ford Expedition, 4x4, 4.6 liter gas engine. I was wondering what the typical gas mileage is on the city and highway. I compared my calculations to those of factory estimations and they appear to be a few miles per gallon different. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 1998 Ford Taurus and the casing that the lighter goes into has disconnected to the mounting inside the drop-down lighter/ashtray piece. At the back of the metal casing the lighter fits into has come unscrewed from the female end, which is on a cord(not a fixed piece) in the back and I can't get it lined up so I can screw it back in.

Is there a way to take off the lighter/ashtray drop down piece without having to remove the whole console? What's the best way to connect the lighter casing's male screw end into the female end inside the drop down piece?

It's a '90 Ranger S-Cab, 2.9 L with and A4LD trans, and sat for 2 years with a wasted trans. I swapped the trans out for a reman A4LD, and all is swell except for the speedo. In the dash it now reads dramatically faster than actual mph, and past 65 mph the needle buries itself past 85, and actual speed is close to 65. Needle movement is smooth. The original speedo drive had 17 teeth, and the replacement drive is the same. Cable and cable engagement seems to be fine. Tire size and rear end ratios are stock- no change out, and the speedo worked fine before the trans failure. Anyone have any ideas?

Part 2- my factory tach intermittantly will read approx 500-1000 rpm higher than normal (700 rpm at idle norm), showing 1200 at idle, then occasionally after returning to "idle", will function properly for awhile. My schematics do not show the factory tach. What circuit is the tach drive connected into, and do I possibly have a bad ground or dash buffer? I'm stumped!!

In May or June I am thinking of purchasing a 2007 Shelby GT500. I am waiting for the high prices to go down a bit.

But will I need to contact my local dealer and order one months or weeks in advance? How does that process work?

Could this be the starter gear hitting the flywheel? Or is this a transmission problem. The noise is coming from the driver side rear of motor and sounds sort of like a wrist pin knock. Noise goes completely away in reverse gear (Automatic) at idle. Is the starter gear not completely dis-engaging or is the problem inside transmission? I opened transmission inspection cover and checked torque converter bolts, they are tight. I hate to buy a new starter if this has no chance of fixing problem. If it is the starter, can the noise go away in reverse? This is what I am not sure of.

i have a 1974 f250 390cid (6.4L) 2WD. 2bl carb. from what i can tell. the engine is rated @200 horse. i am looking at options for more horses and maybe better mileage. i'm sorta toying with the idea of the 460. it would fit without modifications. and since it was produced till 1995. the later years came with an AOD transmission. bottom line. what size AND year engine could i get more horses and possibly better then 9 mpg of gas. with the speed limit up to 75 and possibly going to 80. i would like a overdrive trans too instead of regearing the rear end. i'm not too fond of 3700 rpm just to do 75 mph. any suggestions. i am looking for a project engine to do a plain rebuild and not a super duper hotrod. i just want to get more UMPHF and better gas mileage without modifying the engine compartment. stock engine sizes are 302(5.0L) 360(5.9L) 390(6.4L) 460(7.5L). THANKSSS
