ok i have a stock 302 motor with a e-303 camshaft installed msd ign.box and dizzy and i just installed a set of gt-40 iron heads with upgraded springs i removed the dizzy to get the intake off and i also installed 1.7 roller rockers and now the car wont stay crank i thought i found tdc on the #1 piston it also has a 600 holley carb i dont know if my timings not right or something if someone could give me info on how to get the timing back right it would be helpful i found the fireing order and it seemed fine but any info would be helpful

check to make sure timing marks are correct with TDC. Pull cap to ensure rotor is also facing #1 cyl. cool another guy who goes carburated like I want to. efi crap costs too much. By the time I would buy a good intake a big TBI, A Map sensor, cold air kit, injectors and pcm reflash. I can buy a kick butt intake and race carb.

If you have a Holley Carb. on a '89 LX, that means the engine isn't the stock engine. The Mustang switched to EFI in 1986. The timing and firing order might be different. Sounds like a pretty good ride.

you may be 180* out. Ok get your #1 cylinder to TDC and make sure your balancer is also at TDC from there advance or retard as neccesary

14 degrees on timeing is a good starting point
