Had a new battery put in, and now it's asking for a code.

I bought this car used in '03, so I have no idea what the code is.

The radio is the factory original Infinity 6 CD changer

What is so important about a groundwire? Why can a car electronic device such as an amplifier only run off a power wire? Why is it so important to have this wire hooked onto a peice of metal? Please explain it to me. Its so hard to find the perfect grounding spot.

Fisrt off, I have an Associate of Applied Science in Electronics/Industrial Electronics and my experience in 25 years as an electronics technician has included designing and building my own amplifiers, audio system installs, custom carputer installs, etc.

I can assure you a few things you are mistaken on.

There are ONLY three things that damage a speaker:

exceeding thermal limits
exceeding mechanical limits
material degradation

Distortion is NOT related to any of these. You are confusing "clipping" and "distortion". They are NOT the same thing.

A capacitor WON'T increase bass.

I know this isn't a question, but this "answerer" needs to be stopped before someone actually takes his advice and causes damage to themsleves or their equipment. You can report me if you feel the need, but I'm just trying to look out for you, the innocent.

My car audio system is broken. About an year ago, first the cassette player stopped working. Actually, there was no mechanical problem (I could play/rewind/ff the cassette) but when the cassette played, no other sound except the noise hum could be heard. At that time, the AM/FM radio was still working. However, even that went down that path about six months ago. Now I hear nothing but the noisy BRRR when I turn on either the radio or the cassette player. What could have gone wrong? Any easy fix that I could do myself to solve this problem.
