You can wire up as many as the amp will allow for impedance and wattage.
The total watts RMS of all speakers should equal the watts RMS of an amp.
You can series-parallel speakers to end up with the required impedance the amp looks for.
Here is an example:

If your amp was 1000 watts RMS @ 4 ohms, Each speaker would have to be 250 watts RMS @ 4 ohms.
To the amp, this speaker arrangement is just one 1000 watt RMS @ 4 ohm speaker.

It truley just depends, The less speakers with most wattage the better the sound, You truly dont wanna go hooking up alot of speakers to a amp because it can fry it, Also, noone can really tell you the answer without the wattage of the subs you have or the brand of the sub, But You can hook alot of subs up you just got to watch how you do it, cause like i said it can fry an amp,

Yup, you can wire as many speakers as you would like, so long as the ohm load is playable by the amplifier. The only downside to many speakers is less wattage to each.
