I've asked search engines, but the sites found only want to sell to liferaft manufacturers and not private individuals. I'd prefer water sachets over tins because of the weight. Thanks

Do those things even do anything? I can't figure out how putting MORE stuff in the water would be better for a ship. Now yachts have these things too!

I have a 1994 evinrude 90 HP oceanrunner outboard motor. The oil injection has been removed and I now have to mix the oil in the gas at 50-1 ration. With todays new synthetic oils can I use less oil in the mixture and If so what should the ratio be. I would like to reduce the amount released into the invironment. Any other advice would be appreicated, thanks.

I am building an aluminium planing boat for commuting purposes on the Otago Harbour (NZ), 4 metres in length, 39 horsepower, full cabin, two occupants.
I want to make this boat unsinkable, and I have plenty of unused space, which I plan to encapsulate in aluminium sheet metal and fill up with a buoyancy agent.
Most boat builders use foam. But I'm afraid that'll shrink over the years. I want to use something more durable. But I cannot find anything worth buying - am I down to pingpong balls now?
Would love to hear some tips if you have any. Thanks.

I am interested in finding out the ablility of deep cycle or marine batteries to power an air conditioner. Looking at a 5050btu window unit (115 volts, 4.7 amps, total of 540.5 watts [surge wasent listed]). I know that marine batteries are different from deep cycle, but not sure how. Any reccomendations on what i would use and how many I would need to run it for 6-8 hours, and what kind of inverter and charging system would be required. Please be as detailed as possible and dont answer if you arent sure. thanks

I want to build an aluminium planing boat for three occupants, length about 5 to 6 metres, with a light and low, but fully enclosed, aluminium cabin.
It's supposed to be a commuter boat for use on the Otago Harbour in southern New Zealand.
I want to be able to plane, but the speed limit is 25 knots - which I hope to reach, give or take about 8 knots. I like the idea of using a Yanmar Diesel outboard motor. They come with up to 39 horsepower. Would I need that much?
Thanks.
