A Catamaran is very different than a pontoon. A Pontoon boat size range is about 15ft up to around 50 feet and just about all have outboard motors. There are several different types of pontoon Boats but most have 2 aluminum pontoons with a deck on top. Catamarans can be much larger and usually have inboard motors inside the pontoon along with storage. Catamarans can reach great speeds on open oceans and some larger catamarans have wave pearsing hulls that cut through the waves Like butter. Catamarians are also very Wide 130' cat Has about a 35' beem. A good 150' cat should be able to reach speeds of about 35 knots. I hope this helps Captain Jamie at http://www.boatboss.com
