Find out what date is your last "average date" of a freeze, then wait a couple weeks after that date

I put my Crusier in the water in Central NY as soon as the ice is off the lake. Then the water level is back up to normal Which is the last week in March or the first week of April. I just recomission (dewinterize) the engines, cabin heater and head. Later on close to the end of April. The water system for the shower etc. I winterize the first or second week in November

Depends what part of the climate area your living in...where we live it's no sooner than LATE march...mostly April but this year with the mild winter we may be able to get it done end of March. When the freeze/snow threat is OVER go for it!

Where are you? We are getting a cold spell here but expect a warmup later this month. We left our boat in this year and it is frozen in. We can turn on the outside water and pump out the antifreeze very quickly. We did sail in January in MD.

The best time to dewinterize, is when you want to take it out.
I've taken mine out in march when I lived up in Chicago.
It doesn't matter if it's warm or cold, if you want to get out and use it, go ahead whenever you're ready.
Just watch out for icebergs. LOL

Dude.... don't winterize your boat in the first place. Just keep it in the garage and hit the lake whenever you can.

I like to "Splash in" on memorial day weekend, I could do it earlier but, I wait until the Parade is over in front of my house, I like to put my "Boston Whaler" out in the drive way the American flag on it for the parade (everyone cheers her), then I hook up, drive about 3 miles and put her in for the season at the dock (after cruising for about 5 hrs for fun on the Bay), it gives a GREAT feeling of kicking off "SUMMER" for me !
