I am a student pilot with 43.2 hours, and about 2 hours of solo time. All of that was pattern work. Today, I went up to do some soloing and it was snowing a bit, but that was no big deal. Then the wind picked up and I felt the drops in alt. and the plane was just banking like crazy. This is a Cessna 152 by the way. It really got me afraid of soloing, and this is not good since I am at the point of doing my 150nm solo x-country. I flew to the wisconsin dells today with my instructor and navigation is no problem. The biggest thing I guess is what to do if something goes wrong ie. Engine failure with no fields to land it, etc. How did everyone else get past that part and not worry about things going wrong all the time?

I'm currently training for my instrument rating and would like to have a safety pilot to practice shooting some solo approaches. I'd also like to serve as a safety pilot myself for another pilot.

But, I read an article about safety pilots on Wikipedia, which says the safety pilot cannot log PIC time, only SIC time. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safety_pilot (see the last paragraph under "Basic Principles")

...is this true? I've learned to take everything on Wikipedia with a grain of salt and this particular article may have been written by some commercial pilot who didn't know what the heck he was talking about.

I also was told by a CFI that airlines deduct SIC time during the pilot hiring process, which (if true) makes it a waste of time to serve as anybody's safety pilot, doesn't it?

i strong crosswind for that aircraft seems to be anything over 12kts and the brakes the heat up so fast that they become ineffective after about 5 seconds after applying them, and on a short rwyway thats valuable time- this aircraft carry the 8.5 ply tires on a brake disc used by the cherokee 6 , c206 and c207 , and i have flown them all the braking action on those three are more that good
