In smaller airports the plane is brought to the pump, like a car service station, and a person drags a fairly long hose and nozzle out to the top of the wings to fill the tanks.
For larger airports the fuel is delivered by a truck with pumps on it.
For larger planes, the truck has a platform on top that the driver can walk on and the hose has a special nozzle that locks on a socket on the underside of the wing and the fuel is forced up.
Being an aviation operator is a pretty thankless job with long hours and you have to be willing to watch everyone else fly.

Not hard, but you must learn the proper sequence for filling aircraft with multiple tanks. Even on a simple craft like a 152, you fill one side, fill the other side, and they are still not full. The fuel from the first tank is equalizing to the other side while you are moving and filling, then you must top the first tank again if you are planning on a max endurance flight.
