I started saving receipts to create a budget and account for my spending. A friend of mine said that I can use the taxes paid on those receipts for my income tax. Is this true? If so, how?

Hi,
I am a Naturalized US Citizen planning on living abroad in my home coury for few years to be with my sick parents but not going to work there. During those years I will have no income except couple of thousand dollars in interest on my savings in US bank.

(1 ) Do I have to still file for IT returns in US ?

(2) Am I liable for taxes on the interest earned in US bank ?

(3) Is there a Yahoo or Google or other group where attorneys or accountants can give me proper legal advice on these & other related matters ?

Really appreciate any & all the help.

Thank You in Advance.

I have a kid and I make very little money. My mom pays for my rent (though she lives somewhere else). If I'm filing as an independent this year, do I include money from my mom as income? If I don't count these contributions, I'd be eligible for Medicaid. Also I work from home so the rent could be written off as a work expense.

I wanted to collect some expired medicines from some doctor's offices to take them along with me on medical missions to 3rd world countries. Sometimes saving them up, is a hassle for them. Can I say that they can take a tax deduction for donating the expired Rx meds and nonRx supplies instead of throwing them away?

I would like to know how they come up with the amounts deducted that come on my paycheck? There was the option of me paying taxes, or it just being deducted. I would just like to know that the boss isnt taking a larger share than necessary for taxes.

I'm low income individual and with no permanent job in the past or present, is there a way to do income tax without W2 forms; what do I expect when I decide to filed; I have with me about 3 W2 forms of my last employers in 2005-2006 and I'm kind of afraid because of uncertainty of what can happen if I file.
thank you.

Posting for a friend.

She is recently divorced, have child together. Her ex and her didnt pay taxes for a few years. After the divorce they were working to get it all cleared up. Recently they had some money come in and they had to cash the check together. In the bank he told her they were garnishing his wages and he needed the whole sum of the check to pay back taxes. He had no proof of this. She gave him the money on good faith. Now, her wages are being garnished. She has asked him for reciepts and proof of the taxes being paid. He cannot furnish anything legit.

How can she go about finding out what they have owed over the time they didnt pay. What was paid if anything and when it was paid?
