Charitable contribution deductions in us for H1b visa employee?

I'm working in USA in H1b visa. I'm willing to make some contribution to a non profit organisation in India in a monthly basis. Can I do so? If so, what are the procedures and will my tax get deducted?

Can only be deducted of they have 501(C)3 designation from the IRS. Some non-US charities do.
