I am moving into the city for hospital reasons and I'm asking my friend to move into my house while I'm gone and all I'm asking her is to pay me the amount of the mortgage, not one cent more. She'll be putting the money into my bank account and I will send it to the mortgage payment. Is that considered income? Do I need to report it?? I'm not making money off of the house, just asking someone to pay me the mortgage amount so I could pay it while they take care of my house.

Ok, I've been getting some mixed answers please help. Say for example that I run a business out of my office in my home and I need to purchase a computer. When I write this computer off as equipment needed to run my business will** The money be refunded back with taxes? or **Will the $500 computer be non taxed if it exceeds my business income for that year. Basically, with the computer and no income to the business it becomes a loss, so will it do me no good to write it off.

Do you think that we should end mediatory taxation for social programs? Think carefully before you answer. What would happen if these taxes were no longer collected? Now, on the other side; if you pay the same amount as some other countries, how would that benefit YOU?

I won't have much mortgage interest to deduct in the current year (i.e. 2007) because my mortgage loan won't begin until September. I might be better off taking a standard deduction for 2007. Can I defer the deduction of my mortgage points on my home purchase which I paid for in 2007 , to my 2008 tax return?

The situation is this:
3 people sharing ownership, no other employees
the product we're selling is a web application that will be a online subscription service
we've decided to form a LLC

Based on tax laws (rates, flat fees, etc), where is the more beneficial place to form a LLC between New York and Connecticut? We don't expect any income for the first 5 months of the company's formation.

the IRS in Texas- a community property state.it appears they are applying their guidelines for marital property by insisting that my pension be calculated with my husbands social security,His own pension and wages to determine if HIS social security benefits are further taxable.According to publication 555,pages 2,3,4 benefits are taxable to the person whose NAME it is or OWNED by. I take this to mean;HIS social security benefits,His wages and HisPension determines whether His social security benefits are further taxable. I don't receive social security. I receive a Pension in my NAME which is taxable to me and is not community property for tax purposes just because we share [the same reporting line] on form 1040,16b, and because of where we are domiciled.Being married and filing a joint return in the state of Illinois{non-community proprty state][ permits me to make this adjustment because the social security is not taxable to me. only if spouses totaled income exceeds the limit ..?

I am a 1st time home buyer and am in a high tax bracket (33%). I am considering whether I should accept points and buy down the rate and claim all the points (approx $11,000) in the current year when I file my returns next year? This is not a refinance mortgage.

I live in the city. My tax preparer did my Federal and State returns in April, but did not do my City return. As she filed electronically, I did not realize she did not file the City return. I've recently received a bill from the Collector of Revenue for the City, with late payment charges. Should she assume any responsibility for my late payment charge? She is sending me a completed City return free in the mail, but did not mention anything about reimbursing me for the penalty due.
