kimmy, if i understood your question correctly you've been at your company for 2 years and applied an open position, i assume a better position, and now they want you to train the person hired?

i can understand your frustration. that seems very upsetting i would train the other person, but i would also have my resume handy. that is flagrant disrespect apparently the company doesnt respect you.

also remember, this other person may not work out. you have the stability and know the job. if they dont work out, you have a great deal of bargaining power when they eat crow.

If your company is expanding, well I say train the person as far as showing them the ropes. Don`t show them your skills. They should be qualified to get the job they applied for. If you suspect you are training someone to take your place, well do that in a way that you`ll be sorely missed.

Yes, train your replacement it will be good experience and give you a few more days work if you are looking for a new job. You might also be in line for a promotion and your good attitude can't do any harm either way. It will improve you chances of rehire and references. Figure out what the replacement has you don't and decide if you want to get it.
