Me and my ex husband were recently divorced. He pays child support and is currently behind on child support payments. He wants us to file taxes together for the last time since we were just divorced in September. He is currently in the arrearage of about $2,000 in its still going up. Will I get all of the child support that's in the arrearage since its due to me anyway? Or does it sound like he's trying to get over on me somehow?

I am an independent contractor for the state of florida. How do I know what percentage to take out of each check for taxes? I'd like to set aside the tax now so I don't have to figure it out when the time comes to file. Please help!

I think I have contributed enough in withholdings to cover my tax responsibility and am not interested in letting the government have a no-interest loan with any more deductions.

I moved from New York to California for a job. But I began the job six months before moving and for those six months commuted every week (flying out to California on Monday mornings; flying back Thursday nights).

My company gave me a $8000 payment to help defray these costs (and in addition paid our moving expenses).

So here are my questions:

- Is the $8000 considered income? And if so, are my plane tickets considered expenses I can write off?

- Are the moving expenses they paid for income?

Thanks for the help.

I need the sales tax rate for clothing for every zip code. For example, if you are in chicago, the sales tax rate is 9%. Any zipcode there (e.g., 60645,60640) will show 9%.

What would be the best way to avoid being over taxed. I walked out on my share of a partnership taking only enough money to cover the tools and equipment I left behind. Should I be taxed on that money I received or would it just be for the sale of my assets.
