When my husband joined the military, we lived in oklahoma, so his w-2's say oklahoma. We now live in CA so of course my w-2's say California. Because he is still an Oklahoma resident, and I am married to him, I am told that I too am an Oklahoma resident, and I must pay taxes in that state. Does this sound right that I should pay taxes in two states. Has anyone else been through this. Am I confused by what I am being told. (this is what the lady at H&R Block told me)

Now that I have sold the property I am ready to file taxes and I am afraid that I have to pay a fortune in taxes. I owened the property for 3 yars and it was the my main residence. Can anyone tell me if this real estate agent was wrong.

I ask because of robin hood and the crippling tax system which once supported the upper-classes; some money today goes to the lower-classes, like relief.

I'm not self-employed. I work for a company as a regular employee. I want to know what kinds of receipts I should keep when I file taxes the next year. Donations? Anything work related? Payments on a car loan? I want to be very thorough! I will keep anything if helps lower my taxes!

Hello to all!

Just one quick question. I will start working january next year (2007) and have had no income before (its my first job). Do I have to file a tax return by april 31st 2007 for the months worked (jan to april) or in my case, will it be until april 2008, covering all of 2007? How can I estimate the amount of income tax that will be taken from my paycheck? I live in NYC

Thanks to all! Happy Holidays!!

I'm a new parent and was wondering what are these tax breaks and exemptions that everyone keeps talking about once you have kids and are able to claim them as dependents? Are the tax breaks/exemptions better if you file jointly with your spouse rather than filing separately?
