I live in Japan. I must file taxes with Federal IRS, but do I need to file in GA? I have no property in GA, do not work in GA, receive no income in GA...all I have is my driver's license and I list my mother (in GA) as my stateside address when needed. I get different answers depending on what number I call.

I am selling a business and have $1400 in taxes to pay that are past due I am going to pay them and want to make sure irs doesn't send the new owners the notices on that since they will have a new tax id ect. I just want to make sure that they will NOT be held acountable for any thing that was during our ownership.

100 years ago, there were virtually NO taxes. No gas tax, no death tax, no _fill in the blank_ tax, AND we had no debt. Why did we initiate all these taxes and suddenly we have all this debt? Perhaps we should stop taxing everything and stop spending so much money on government programs.
