I go to the barbershop for a weekly haircut to make myself look presentable/professional for my job. This is above my norm of a haircut every 2 or 3 weeks before I became a Police Officer. Is this legitimately tax-deductible as a business expense? Even without receipts? I average $14-17 a week on haircuts. Thanks.

My company said they need to be "reinstated" then I can claim benefits. Is this bogus? Am I REALLY out of the $6400 in UI benefits that I am overdue?
Is there anyway I can collect - if anyone knows of any way, it would really be appreciated.

Can a suit be filed or would I end up spending my UI benefits in paying the lawyer's fees?

Why is it so hard to have a fair tax system? There shoud be NO write offs for anyone. There should be no incentive one way or the other for anybody. Just pay 15%. Whether you make 1,000.00 or 1,000,000.00. It's the same burden, and it's fair. Oh yeah, the rich would actually have to pay taxes. That's why it won't work. It's up to us commoners earning 50k to bear the tax burden for society.

I'm a full time student and I just started working in late October of this year, and I was wondering If I needed to do my taxes for this year? I didn't work all thanksgiving week and I'm not going to work the last two weeks of this month. So in total I would make around 600 dollars for this year. So do I have to do my taxes?

My ex-boyfriend and I have a son together. We had lived together since before our son was born. This year, in October, we moved apart and our son lives with me full-time. Every year previous, my ex has filed with our son, in his taxes, as he's made more and has been Head of Household, so it's made sense to. Since we moved with only 3 months left in 2006, who files taxes claiming our son? Dad or me? Thanks for the advice!
