When my husband joined the military, we lived in oklahoma, so his w-2's say oklahoma. We now live in CA so of course my w-2's say California. Because he is still an Oklahoma resident, and I am married to him, I am told that I too am an Oklahoma resident, and I must pay taxes in that state. Does this sound right that I should pay taxes in two states. Has anyone else been through this. Am I confused by what I am being told. (this is what the lady at H&R Block told me)

I think you will claim either the state you came from, or CA. On your federal taxes, it doesn't matter. When you file your state taxes, you will file separate. You can file the CA and he can file OK. If you need more advise, have him go to base legal. Don't trust H&R Block. They are not military experts and can mess you up!

NO, you are not considered a resident of the state.
There are exceptions for military. Only wages earned outside of the military are taxed by the state. IF you work, your wages are taxed by cal not okla.
The best or one of the easiest programs for taxes is by HRBLOCK available on line and in all the stores.
