The LLC is owned by my wife and I who were partially funded by the aforementioned consultants, and we pay them a % of the profits each month. Would they classify as employees who need an EIN and taxes withheld? I want to make sure of this so I am not taxed on the amount I am paying them.

I've only filed one federal return before, and this is my first time as a full -year out of college person. I am a little confused about whether I count Soc. Sec that has been withheld from my paycheck, and/or Medicare in the federal tax amount. I'd appreciate any help/advice you could give!

I have just reported someone for committing benefit fraud

She is only paying £20.00 per month towards council tax when really she should be paying at least £70.00 a month.

They said they will follow her, I told them what she looks like, where she lives, where she works etc

She is on 15k a year and a single mother... who get money from her partner that lives abroad

What could happen, prison?

I expect my divorce to be finalized in December maybe late November. Can I claim married status for this year on next years taxes?

2007-11-09 02:12:38 · 2 answers · asked by Anonymous in United States

Last year I was able to claim married, 3 kids and a house, I think I had 5 exemptions and always got back about $1000. This year I am not married, the kids are not living with me, I pay child support and I own my own home. I have no idea what to claim on my W-4, so since last year I have claimed nothing and added $50 a paycheck. I am worried that I will have a tax bill that I can't handle so I essentially have had nothing withheld and am hoping for a good sized return? But I need a better understanding of what I should/can claim on my W-4. All suggestions welcome.

What have I done? Ok, I won $500 for a costume contest. The money was to be added to my paycheck. A co-worker suggested I change my tax status to exempt. So... I did, under the assumption I would have no/less taxes taken out. I received my direct deposit today and it was $56. I only work 1 day a week, and my normal check ends up being closer to $85. So, I'm hoping that I'm receiving the $500 on a seprate check. ?? What do you think/know about exempt status?

I bought a house in Houston, Texas last summer. I've just received my first bill of property taxes in the mail. I have until February of next year to pay without any penalty. My question is should I pay property taxes now (this year) and claim it in my 2007 tax return OR should I wait until next February?
Thanks,
Kenny

i excercised some stock options a few years ago. my excercise price was very low (less than $1). however, the stock price was high at that point ($50), so i had to pay AMT based on $50.

the stock is now worth about $10. if i want to sell the stock, how do i figure out beforehand what the basis will be?

is the AMT just a simple adjustment to the excercise price, or do i have to look and see if some of that AMT was credited back in the intervening years?

I forgot to file taxes in 2005. I have to turn in past 2 years tax returns for final mortgage approval. I filed the return right away, dropped it off at local office with check for balance. Will this hurt my chances of the mortgage going through? Bank had my W2s and tax returns will match up.
