right now back to 2001, you have to file it but if a refund is due you will not get it, because you can only receive your refund 3 years after the original due date.
you will not get refunds for 2002 and 2003 and as of April 15, 2007, you will not be able to get a refund for the 2004 tax year.

There is NO statute of limitations on unfiled taxes. The statute of limitations to collect taxes doesn't start until the return is filed.
