I was audited for 2005 and owe additional tax; however, in re-examining my return, I realized that I filed as a dependent when in fact I was not. I called my parents and found that they had claimed me in 2005 - this is incorrect. I did not live with them for half of the year and did not receive assistance from them; I was in school full time but my income was 20k. How do I rectify this? If I change my status and assert that they were incorrect (which will lessen my tax burden), will they be audited?

I'll probably make about $40-50 in interest from my CDs and savings accounts, do I have to file with the IRS? I'd probably owe nothing on it but just asking.

When does your official "day of being a non-profit" start? When the IRS receives your application / When they are finally happy with everything and accept it as complete, or sometime before, or after that date? Can donations be accepted Before the application is accepted and/or approved and still qualify on the donors tax return as a legal donation to a non-profit? My papers are getting mailed this week, when can I legally accept a donation?

I run a lawn service out of my parents garage right now. I am making very good money and do like to claim it on my income takes as "other" or Schedule C. (its taxed @ 15%)

Recently I purchased several pieces of expensive equipment but I have not yet filed for a Tax ID # nor have I made the business an official corporation. Can I claim the purchases on my 2007 tax forms as deductions? I would like to claim full revenues and recieve a tax break from expenditures.

How would I go about this?

As I type, this question is being asked of Democratic Presidential Candidates. They seem to have glossed over the FACT that Corporate America pays about half of what Individuals pay, using phoney offshore tax loopholes to create higher profits, eliminating American jobs as well.

Should the "rich" pay more, or should Corporate America face up to their obligations?

For example, in the state of CO, if someone makes $2000 a paycheck (twice a month), and their actual check is for $1400, is there too much tax being taken out, or is that about right?

Is there anything one can do to increase the check amount but not pay at the ending of the year?

I just started a new job and I was expecting more per paycheck, but I never know how to fill out those W4 forms, so I am wondering if I made a mistake.
