the Americans are moaning that they pay outrages fuel prices. you don’t know how easy you have it.

uk v usa

in the uk you pay roughly 98p per liter
in the usa you pay roughly 3.29 per gallon

anyone see the difference?

well i'll do the math’s for you. in a us gallon there is approximately 3.785 liters. so in the uk, we would pay 3.71 GBP for the same amount of 'gas' which is 7.42 dollars

(98*3.785=3.71*2 (2 dollars to a GBP roughly)= 7.42

so next time your thinking about how hard you have it....... think about the Brits

I just recieved a notice from "Chief, Service Center Collection Branch" that my $30.00 refund has been delayed. they want to see if I owe any other taxes. I just successfully completed an "Offer in Comprise" with the IRS. Is this the possible reason for the delay? I am a bit nervous!

I've never itemized before but had numerous medical bills last year. Now I'm nervous that the deductions will send up a red flag.

I read that medical expenses that exceed 7.5% of your adjusted gross income are exempt from the 10% penalty. Can these expenses be any kind of medical expenses such as fertility treatment or do they have to be 'lifesaving' or more 'crucial' to preserving your own personal health type of expenses? Does it even matter or can they be any type of medical expense whatsoever? I assume the other 20% penalty always applies even if exempt from the 10% penalty. Is this correct? Help!!!

About Mid April I went to a tax consultant to have my preview years tax reviewed, there was a lot of people there and waited 3hrs, when I got to see him, he told me that my tax would take quite some time and that it didn't matter if it gets done that day or another, so he kept my documents and asked me to come back next day, wich I did just to find out that he wasn't there and the secretary said that we was out. I kept calling and he was never there and one day I just showed up he was there but that night someone forced open the place and left a mess, so he couldn't see me that morning, and told me to come back the next day, I went the next morning to find we hasn't there. The secretary tells me that he will see me in a given day at a set hour to come I had been there already 8 times and the last two I just told the secretary that I only want my documents back, he doesn't seem to have the time to do it and I just want them back. Is there a legall way to get them back? what can I do?

Just hoping the section 179 still applies to this. The vehicle is over 6000 pounds and would be used for 70% business.

why not lower taxes and spend less. goverment should only provide fire, police,a standing army. and only things we need.
like roads, bridges, and such. no more bridge to no where. no fish barns in iowa. less taxes less spending

I am a student set to make under $12k this year. I am working 40+ hours a week in a grocery store. Since I make under $12k, when I filed my W4 I submitted that I should have no deductions. On my first paycheck I only worked a total of 12 hours and was not taxed (Just got out of college). The next week, I worked 43 hours and was taxed for my entire paycheck, both federal and state. Is there a law anywhere that requires overtime pay to be taxed? Last year I made under $12k, my company withheld taxes anyways and I ended up getting nothing back thanks to them withholding incorrectly.
