I'm a resident of Texas. I'm purchasing a car in Connecticut. The dealer price I'm paying includes "TT&L", but I'm not sure if I'd even have to pay sales tax in that state anyway... If i'm purchasing the car in Connecticut and driving it back to Texas, would I have to pay sales tax in Texas when I register the car?

I'm reading where banks don't withhold or report tax on interest earned by non-resident aliens. If that's the case, do they get to avoid paying tax?

I you were to say, make $100,000 in the stock market in a year, I would have to pay 27% on it in my tax bracket. Can I just give the amount I have to pay in taxes to a church or charity organization and not have to give any of it to the government, or is the amount i give to charity just tax deductible? I'm not too sure about this, but i'd rather give my money to charities than to this government so I know where my money is actually going.

I'm just getting into the business world so I don't know much about taxes or filing out w-4 forms properly. I'm 19, full time student at the university of colorado and i'm home for the summer working as an intern. I receive hourly pay of $13.45 with a monthly stipend. My parents are still fully supporting me and I work just to get a little extra money. I got my first pay check today and my father pointed out that I must have filled out my w-4 form incorrectly because I was being taxed federal income taxes, SS, federal medicare, CA income taxes, and CA Vol. Disability. (and well thats a pretty big lump of money if you're not making much) I figured out that I won't get any of that money back until I file my tax returns for 07 correct? But when I correct the w-4 what should I put down???

Warning: This year, more middle income families will be unexpectedly subjected to Alternative Minimum Tax just for regular tax preferred items, such as State Tax, Property Tax and personal exemption ($3,400 per person). This will cause tax on top of tax, and seriously jeopardize the middle income families' financial well-being. Are you subjected to it? Check out earlier and do not get caught in surprise next April. Talk to your congressmen and senators to get their support in extending the $62,550 exemption. Do not wait till it is too late!

If I buy a business – having been paid in retrospect a full manager's wage (plus percentage of profits) thus assuming full legal responsibility for the business and its earnings from the time the business started - am I also legally responsible for tax violations?

I have no ideal how they found out, because I haven't even mention it to anyone. My boss found out I was looking for another job and decided to pass it on to the owner. They both came in one night when I was working and asked me if I was plainning on leaving and if so they accept my resignation and I don't have to give a two weeks notice. (Meaning I can leave right now!) A.) I haven't even received an interview or offer yet for anyone else. B.) Shouldn't they at least wait until I tell them I'm leaving. C.) Although they now know this little secret of mine do they have the right to bascially fire me on the spot.
