No, this simply means that he lives with you and you provide for his housing and half of his expenses. You are not responsible unless you co-signed for anything.

You can claim someone as a dependent if they meet certain requirements. They must make less than 3,300 per year, you provide more than half of their support for the year, you are related, they are a US citizen, and they do not file a joint return. However, claiming a dependent does not make you responsible for them. You are just basically getting a tax break for having someone in your home that you "take care of." Hope this helps.
