I have a bank account, but I'm not putting any money into it because of a nasty arbitration case. So Ive been cashing all my paychecks but I'm trying to save money. It's really hard to save money when the cash is right there. So where can I put my money to save it, but that can't be garnished by the courts??

I'll make it simple and short. I have $1,000 left in my savings account.
I have just one credit card left to pay off--$2,000; I'm paying about $35 interest on every month on the balance.

I also have a personal loan to payoff--$3,800 left. I'm paying $220 month which is going to take until mid 2008 to pay off.

Should I put the thousand towards the credit card or the loan?

thank you

I keep buying things, things I don't need, and expensive versions of things I do. I need to stop but I keep making plans to, putting my debit card away nad only taking out a certain amount but that only lasts a couple of days and then I've managed to justify myself into buying something and while I'm buying that I buy loads of other crap too.
I'm not in debt or anything, but I don't have a lot of money and I'd like to start saving.
How can I stop myself from getting carried away by consumerism?

Assuming you can withdraw early from an IRA account.

Right now I have a 401K and I might need to take an emergency withdrawal in the next couple of months. I know there is a penalty. Would it be better to roll over to a roth ira right now and withdraw in a couple of months? What kind of penalties am I looking at?

I've found that banks won't cash a cashier's check. What?? So what if you don't have a bank account and live thousands of miles away from the bank the check was drawn on? How do you cash your check without paying an exorbitant fee?

I already have two credit cards with Chase and Washington Mutual I just closed one out with U.S. Bank. I have both a checking and a savings account with WaMu but I don't like the agreement for the WaMu savings. They take $25 out of my checking every month. I just want a nice savings account where my money can grow with minimum fees and requirements. Any suggestions?
