A 19 year-old magazine student salesman came to my door last night. He said he was trying to raise "points" for a empire sales thing for his school. I gave him two checks for subscription to magazines. I already sent in a cancellation notice to cancel my subscriptions and then he won't be able to cash the checks.

But is there something I can do NOW? Like call my bank and put a hold on the checks or cancel them someway? I've never written checks so I have no clue what I'm talking about..thanks!

Someone of Ebay (from overseas) bought a laptop, somehow used my Paypal account to purchase it. It was 1005.53 that was charged to my account, of course I don't keep that kind of money in my paypal so they used my back up funding which is my bank account. I filed for unauthorized debit at my bank and also filed with paypal and unauthorizd payment as well. Paypal did their 10 day investigation and put this money back in my account. So who does this money really go to? The bank tells me that they will send the money back and I won't get charged for it. They won't pay it since I filed unauthorized debit...so that part is taken care of. I'm just wondering why paypal put 1005.53 in my paypal account when I never had it in the first place! Thanks for all your help.

I have made a string of bad decisions in the last year financially. No sad story here, I am just bad with my money. Plain and simple. I have gotten better and I am improving more and more every day, but I am so far behind on everything now, I just cant get caught up. I thought a couple of payday loans were the answer but that only made matters much worse. I have identified what I need to do and with my salary I can pay a pretty hefty loan payment but I just cant get myself to even and start moving forward. Between payday loan fees and NSF fees every month and I just wasting money and I cant get out of that trap. Does anyone have any sound advice or a suggested solution to this nightmare I am in. I just dont know what to do. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

I filed bankruptcy 5 years ago. Since then I was able to finance a vehicle with no money down at 23% intrest through a dealer. Its a high price to pay for credit. I paid it off on time never late. Now when I apply for a simple $3,000.00 loan I get decline. What good was my credit for the vehicle I got financed for? I went back to the same bank that financed the vehicle and they tell me the application was denied due to my credit history. But yet they financed me a $12,000.00 vehicle? How is that possible? I do not understand! So I am asking where can I go for a loan? What institute will do business with me?

In June of this year, my father died. My mother, age 79, who was married to my father at the time of death, received a check from a utility company in the amount of $ 511.13 that is made payable to my dad's "Mr. John Doe Estate". My mothers name is not on the check. My mother's lawyer has allowed her sign various papers related to the estate over the past few months.

My mom took this check into her local, main bank, which she and dad have been doing business with for 10 years, and said she wanted to deposit the check. The bank told her that, because it was made out ONLY to my dad's estate, that she would have to open a "new " account in the name of my dad's estate.

Is this correct? What alternatives are there ? Any suggestions ?

But... you could only buy yourself ONE thing (one house or one car or pay off one credit card, etc.) and the rest you had to spend on others (friends, family, co-workers, donate to a specific charity, etc.)

What would you spend the money on
