Where I work, If we have a banquet or a big group and they pay with a credit card, we have to give the owner 5% of our tip. He says it goes towards the cost of swiping the credit card, but I don't believe that it costs that much. To me, that is one of the costs of running a business, and I feel that it is wrong to take away from the wait staff. So, I was wondering if anyone knew if what he is doing is legal or not.

I received an enquirie from a relitive in the USA about coming here to live. The reason for this is that they had a very good book store and doing very well until the last couple of years. More and more of their customers have turned to the net for their books and when they want something special and go to the store to find it they don't want to pay the extra costs it takes to get it. The store will close after school is out and they will look for another place to live.

So do you suport your local people or do you buy your books and other items on line???

I work at an office, and we get those stupid automated calls from mortgage brokers all the time. Don't they even know they're calling a business? They waste our time and take time away from legitimate clients. I don't understand why a mortgage broker would call a business anyway! Sure, we have a business lease, but not a mortgage! You'd think that when they are programming their computers, they would have a list of residences versus businesses.

I got my bill from Comcast last night and the total was $115.00. I always pay my bill on time and have never been late. They told me that the bill was so high because they are billing me the $40 for my promotion fee but the promotion ends in March so they are also billing me the normal $65 that my bill will now be from here on end.
This to me sounds like they are charging me for 2 months. The woman on the phone tried to explain it to me but it wasn't making a bit of sense. Can anyone please explain, if you know, why I am being charged so much now??

Please don't answer this question if you do not know the answer. And please do not answer this question by telling me to switch to some other company because I cannot do that. Thanks in advance.

Three months ago I bought through ebay a stand alone ECU (computer for my car).
The seller was in Canada (I'm in USA - California).
In his listing HE DIDN'T MENTIONED ANY COST OTHER than shipping and insurance(The total price was $950).

After successfully receiving the item I was contacted (via mail) by the shipping company who was asking me to pay $50.
I called once but couldn't find anyone on the phone due to different time zone and to my tight schedule.

Today I received a mail where the shipping company (purelator) is threatening me to pay because otherwise they will destroy my credit.

What should I do?
