There is no way I am going through a bank for a home loan. I am a student paying outrageous rent in this area and I would rather put my $ into something of value. I will be in school for another 4 years (including grad school) and would love to raise my kids here. Any suggestions?

*I am paying $800/month in a southern city of WV w/a population of 60,000. The house I have been in love w/is listed @ $60k.

My mom, boyfriend and I have discussed buying it on a land contract and renting the other 2 bedrooms out to other college students-$400 month.

The trustee was able to get a default judgment against me as a creditor in a ponzi scheme. This was done without my knowledge in that several notices were never received. Further, I had used the trustee's lawfirm in the past and knew the attorney handling the matter, so everything was apparently casual. Now I am faced with having to vacate the default. I also need to defend my position that I any funds paid to me were in the ordinary course, and try to establish the actual accounting of the matter. This all happened 8 or so years ago, and many records are no longer in existence. Upon learning of the judgment several weeks ago, I have been very indignant and have threatened attorney ethics charges vs. the trustee's firm. The Court appears to just want this over. How do I present myself as a victim of the trustee, and not as a johnny come lately desperately defending myself?

I recieved several emails from a possible Attorney in Lome-Togo claiming I can be presented as the next of kin to a deceased relative (whom I only share the last name) I dont know. The lawyer claims there is a large sum of money and If I agree we will split it 40%me 55% him and 5% for our govt taxes. If no one claims it or there is no beneficiary the account and monies will be confiscated by the bank gov't.

If someone you knew
a) didn't have or want kids
b) owned a home outright (worth not millions, but enough to live off the profits if it had to be sold) in a really affluent area.
c) didn't have to pay property tax on house, insurance on car, or the car they drive (a porsche)
d) didn't have to pay for food or any other daily items.
e) was able to spend $5 or $7,000 on clothes and other gifts.
f) doesn't work at all except volunteer work
g) was able to afford maybe 1 vacation a year ($3,000)
h) no other bills or debt

I know someone like this (not me, I wish!) & she insists she is not rich (because she still has a budget) but she seems pretty rich to me.

This lady is very very smart, she went to an Ivy League school & has a graduate degree also.

APS sales circuits. I am always looking for new a better ways to sell through these circuits. Have you been successful with this method of selling stamps? The hardest part is finding collections to buy --- at about 20 to 30% of catalogue --- to mount in APS books for resale. Selling is not hard. Buying stock that I can sell at a small profit is a problem. Any thoughts?

I have rented a basement apartment before and I have just moved out. My landlord called me and ask for a $500 maintance charge because she said there were "serious" damages in the apartment. She has threatened me that she need the money paid to her within a few days or else she will call the police. But I am certain that those "serious damages" are little scratches on the wall, and a little worn out of the counter top. It is unreasonable to give her $500 for maintance, but if I do not give it to her, she will call my cell phone, come to my work place ...etc to get her money back. What should I do? (by the way, i have lived at that apartment for 3 years, I think it is reasonable to have a little worn out of the house. She cannot expect me to return the house to her in a perfect condition) Please advice.
