I was rearended in a car accident a little over 2 years ago. Complete fault of driver for a company. Apparently my attorney has not been acting in my best interest (not disclosing liens, fees, etc. when requested). I was to go to court next week for my case, however my attorney had got me to agree to settle; nothing finalized yet. Apparently my attorney has not mentioned that I owe several thousands of dollars for medical bills to my insurance company, this is after exhausting all 1st party benefits. We have discussed all fees, med. bills, etc. several times and I have asked for anything that I owe. He has known about the lien and has not made me aware of this until after I had agreed to settle my case. Is there anything that can be done to lower the amount with my ins. co. or this attorney? Should I go to court and ask for an extension rather than settling? I will need surgery, will I have to pay for this out of pocket if from accident? I'm in a bad way and could use any help. Help?

The IL governor has declared my county a disaster area due to the recent rain and flooding. I have homeowners insurance, but ofcourse I dont have flood insurance, as I am not located in a flood plain. I did take in 2 feet of water and sewage back up, and I had probably $10,000 worth of appliances in my basement that took water and some are either totally broken or they are not working right. When in a declared disaster area, does the state offer grants to help under insured citizens, or does the state offer grants to the local city govt only, to assist in clean up efforts, etc.? Anyone know how that works and can you provide resources to me to find out more information? Thanks!!

They say its a dividend check for a policy. Why did they send me this money. Is this a scam or should I just put it into savings somewhere...maybe an I bond or something?
I just cannot figure out why State farm is sending their customers money, first a free pizza and now a check.

My wife has been approved for breast reduction surgery. We have United Healthcare Insurance. My question is has anyone ever been approved for a tummy tuck that had united healthcare? If so what did you have to do to be approved? She is trying for the tummy tuck because she has lost over 170 lbs. without stomach reduction surgery, and has excess skin, and has been denied. We are appealing now, and its important to her to get the approval. Any help will be appreciated.

once I start another job? I have type 2 diabetes and am hypothyroid if that makes a difference. I know there will be a 3 month waiting period as well as possible more time for pre-existing conditions but I can't afford the Cobra payments of $400 per month during that waiting period. What can I do? I may be able to deal with 3 months as long as I can pick it up again with another job.

You pay for insurance today but never see what was promised until the day there is a claim. You trust the insurance company. But what if it decides to pay less than the claim, or none of the claim? Does it refund your premiums paid, or return half your premiums if it pays only half the repairs on your car? Insurance operates totally opposite to normal business - it is based on laws that require both parties to act with integrity and honesty, and the insurance company is required to find a reason to pay your benefit, not deny it. The reality is, most companies try to take your money and find ways not to give it back.

Well this may sound like a long shot, but I just recently bought my son a 2000 Ford Mustang, Now its insurance time, hes 18, gets A's in school and has had drivers ed. Why do the quotes from Progressive and esurance estimate its going to cost nearly $500 a month, even with a 1990 honda junker it still cost nearly $400 do these prices seem reasonable, i cant recall them being that high, when i first got insurance, thanks.

Here's the situation. My husband makes very little money. I have him covered under my insurance policy.

Until recently, my stepdaughter was covered under Child Health Care Plus. Coverage stopped when she turned 15. Her real mother is being a real witch and demanding we buy her insurance. Hubby can't afford it. I can't enroll her under my employer's plan because there's only open enrollment one month per year. I really don't WANT to put her on my policy, as she seems determined to get pregnant ASAP, and also she hates me and steals from me. Can I be FORCED to get her insurance?

Oh, and did I mention her real mother doesn't work?

HELP!!!!

When I was hired in, I was told that my health benefits would be paid for after 90 days. Two years ago, there was an increase on the blue cross, so we started to pay $20 a paycheck to help cover the increase. Now, my boss said he can no longer cover us starting October 1st 2007. I have heard to ask for a raise, but how can you when the employer says they are having financial problems? I work in the floral business in Michigan so it is not a big company.

My fiance and I want to get married right away and have been wanting to for a while but had to wait until the insurance plan he had at his job kicked in. That would have been next month but now he is getting another job and going back to college next semester so we won't have that insurance. I can't marry him until we have the insurance thing figured out because I won't be covered under my parents' once we are wed and they won't let us till this is done. This is more urgent than ever that we get married now because my parents are driving us mad trying to control everything. I just gave birth to our baby girl on Tuesday so we need to find a good family plan. If you have any advice on what insurance carriers have good, hopefully inexpensive coverage please share. Oh and we are all in great health so existing health conditions won't be a factor in finding insurance. And the state is VA.

My daughter is going to be driving within the next few months. I was curious to know if anyone can fill me in on how much my insurance is going to jump up to ensure her. Also, would it be cheaper for me to just add her to my husband's and my insurance policy or get her her own policy. Just trying to save a few pennies where i can.
