I have a question about insurance. what is hmo? what is the best kind to have? if my son needs a cousler once a week. i dont care about emergency room visit. I always make appointments.

HMO stands for health maintenance organization.
Kaiser was probably one of the first .
It is flat fee and you only see the medical people in that organization .
FPS or fee per service , is where you can go to any doctor or facility and you usually have a co-pay .

Check and see if the doctor you son sees is part of that HMO , if not , you would have to see someone else .

using an hmo is limiting you with benefits.. they choose the doctor you go to , and some you will have problems with claims.
If you go with insurance go with a ppo, then you can go to any doctor you want to..
