I just want to know if I can able to get a copy of the insurance policy of my husband and me as the beneficiary from where my husband is working. My husband is a fireman and two years ago we went to the Department of Fire at the City Hall and he put me as the beneficiary to his insurance policy. My husband is still alive. I just want to get a copy of the insurance policy and me as the beneficiary. I'm just doubting because we argue once and he might remove my name as the beneficiary and he put his adult kids from his ex-wife.
I just want to secure myself in the future and want to know if he doesn't remove my name. Can I get a copy from the City Hall Department of Fireman Insurance Office/Finance eventhough I'm the legal wife. I just want to know if I'm still the beneficiary and never remove my name.

... but when someone with heath insurance visits the doctor, there is a discount on the cost when it is covered by the insurance?

I had gone for a year without health insurance, and I had to make a few different trips to the doctor. Every time I received the bill, it was for the full amount of the visit.

Now that I have health insurance, I went to my insurance website to see if my doctor's visit had been covered, and it said that the cost had been reduced (i.e. instead of the insurance company having to pay the $210, they only paid $65).

Why is that? Shouldn't it be the other way around? People with no health insurance should be paying the lower price out of pocket.

I am trying to help my parents choose a Medicare Advantage plan during open enrollment. They live in San Franciso. Any thoughts or experiences with plans would be very helpful. I have been studying web sites/books and calling providers. I still don't feel I can help them decide. Anyone know about the BlueCross SmartValue or Freedom Blue plans? Or any other plans?
Thank you.

Maternity coverage (usually at 100% coverage) is usually included in most health benefit coverages and yet only applies to a small fraction of the people who have health coverage. It's also the highest malpractice specialty out there. Should those people who are over a certain age, or know they cannot or will not have children be forced to pay for coverage they know they'll never use? Should it be optional?

This question is for my neice she is in her 30's--She worked full time, had knee surgery five years ago. Quit that job and went back to school for her MBA. She completed her MBA in June with honors from a California State Uninversity. She was working part time at the college, student loan, and had surgery again. Now she is working for a non-profit organazation, no medical insurance, paying back her student loan. The doctor told her that she will need surgery within one year.
Question--is there any organazition that would cover pre-existing conditions?

I am 63. Been disabled since 1980 when I got injured at work. I have had 3 back surgies(5disc & 2 nerves.) I was forced to go on SSD after my workers comp ran out in 1983. At first medica was pretty good but then my wife ( a LNA) put me on her insurence because medica was covering less &less of my medical, They would not pay for a heart operation because they said it was not a medical emergency. I got the procedure but 2 years later after fighting in court but not by medica but by my private insurance. I still have medica but the only thing they pay is my deductable$ 5. I spend about $650 A month on meds which they use to pay half but pay nothing any more. Is this what we can expect if we have goverment run insurance for every one?

I've found companies that offer life and illness together, but would prefer one that can cover all three.
