Maternity is not automatically covered and some times policies will not cover for a time frame after inception of the policy. My friend had a 2 year waiting period before she could even get pregnant.

You will need maternity benefit and the policy will have to be in force at least 10 months before the baby is born. You are wise to plan ahead.

Maternity should be included as part of the policy, but I would specifically ask your agent about it. Ask him to point out on the policy where it is covered, and read carefully over the exclusions and limitations.

You are very wise to plan ahead. Look into Life Insurance and Disability Insurance while you are thinking about the coverage you need.
