I'm thoroughly confused as usual. But, if you have the option to get both short and long term disability insurance why would you? Does the short term cover things the long term doesn't? Doesn't long term cover the short term period as well anyway? Or do you have to have both to be covered in the immediate future and long term??? Why does everything have to be so complicated why cant there just be one kind of disability insurance its soo annoying....Which one would you get or would you get both???? arrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggggg. I'm only 28 so don't know if thats a factor, in relatively good health...but in a profession that can be dangerous. Mental health field, direct care. What about individual policies, should I consider paying outside of the company if they dont offer both of these.....

thank you for any assistance

On the news, there was an announcement that because of the other insurance companies Citizens will have to ask for a 55% increase in insurance rates. Our politicians are wringing their hands and say they do not know what to do. Well, I have a suggestion (1) Allow anyone to join Citizens and have Citizens roll back the premiums to the rate of 3 years ago. (2) have a law that insurance premiums cannot increase more than the Federal Cost of Living Adjustment. (3) have a fee leveled at all insurance companies, no matter what kind of insurance they sell (say 1% of premiums) that will be used to pay any damages over the amount of money Citizens collects for homeowner insurance. (4) If any company wants to offer homeowner insurance, they cannot go to Citizens insurance for policyholders unless they will give as good benefits and as low a premium (in other words no one can be forced off the Citizens Insurance (5) reduce the decible for wind damages down to level of other damages. SOUND GOO

In other words, since the likelihood of needing this policy diminishes with age and the policy is good until age 65, when would it be advisable to stop paying premiums and perhaps invest them instead? Thank you.

Insurance company will not approve operations if they are deemed cosmetic only. My insurance company might have mistakenly approved a surgery for me because it did not have enough info to know if it was going to have any benefit besides cosmetic. Can they revoke their decision if they are informed by a third party that it might have been a mistake?

My family's health insurance is issued through my husband's employer. They recently changed our insurance from blue cross to united healthcare beginning Nov. 1. We still have no cards. When I try to print the temp. cards from the website I get an error. I called my husband's employer and the human resource director told me to not go to the dr. and don't have any perscriptions filled until we get the cards because the insurance is bad about reimbursing. I called the insurance company and they couldn't give me any info--they said I had to have my card before they could help me! I'm so ticked off right now and I have 2 drs. appts tomorrow that I simply can't cancel. My question is--is this legal? Isn't there some time frame in which they have to give us the cards?

Thanks in advance!
