The system used is as follows: If the last number issued is 123 then the next number will be 124. 125, 126, etc. Alphabetic characters are used to increase the number of possible numbers without increasing drastically the size of the eventual result. For instance AB123, AB124, AB125 and so on. It is a very clever system known as the Alphanumeric System

It could be on your Pay slip. It'll be a 9 character set beginning with 2 letters and ending with 1 letter.

How could you look it up on the internet???? Definetly wrong.
Look at Payslip, P45, P46, P90, Letter from the Inland Revenue, or you will have to call them.

Look on your last tax form or payslip. You could ask at your local tax office. I have found them to be very helpful.
