My partner and I want to buy a property in London. In fact we can only afford it if we combine incomes. I have been in full time employment for nearly 3 and a half year and have a healthy salary, however my partner has spent the past 6 months working for herself and on this basis earns more than I do and has the potential to increase this significantly. The problem is that we have been told that this will be severely detrimental to us obtaining a mortgage where both our current earnings are taken into account. How can we get a mortgage based on our joint earnings without my partner having to resort to becoming an employee?

i work a shift pattern, 8 hour days. The early shift is 6am-2pm, and the late shift 2pm til 10pm. My boss says that i am only entitled to one 30min break on the late shift for an evening meal, but am entitled to NO break (other than quick toilet breaks) on the early shift.
Is there anything in employment law that states how many breaks, and for how long, employees are entitled to??

Why is it that someone who's working and making a fortune in wages is more likely to get more and more credit than someone on benefits who just wants a little extra help? Why are people on benefits penalised for being poor? Is it because creditors will have nothing to take from them if they are unable to make payments? Lets face it, if you don't own your home you've really got no chance. I can understand why some people see crime as the easy way to get money! (Not that that makes it OK, of course).

I earn 1500 euro net.
If I substract fixed cost I'm down to 287.15. Already included are some special means of saving/insurance for 210 euro (without the insurance that's probably about 100 euro) as well as gas since I have to commute (this one is not negotiable other than changing my job - which I actually try to do).

Is it possible to live (food, clothes, savings) with about 290 euro a month? I don't have any kids yet, but I want to save a little bit.

I bought an item from ebay that I returned and paid extra for a replacement product. The woman said she posted it on Monday (next day delivery) but I haven't received it and she hasn't replied to any of my e-mails. I want to raise a dispute in paypal but wondered if i'm likely to get my money back
