Here's my situation: I really want to move out of California to the East Coast. My friends from Boston/Chicago/New York have suggested Boston for me. Unfortunately, my job history is kind of sporadic. The only on-the-job skills I have are administrative (but I have Bachelors degrees: yes, TWO). Would a company REALLY hire someone out-of-state just for administrative positions?

(The Hindu, Aug 10, 2006) India and China will escape the downturn that other countries in the world are expected to face, with Asian countries expected to grow by at least seven per cent and nine per cent respectively during the current fiscal, Deutsche Bank Chief Economist Norbert Walter said on Wednesday.

Delivering a lecture on "World Economy--Longest Ever Recovery About to End?", Walter said he sympathises with the concerns expressed by the Reserve Bank over inflationary expectations in its quarterly review of the monetary policy.

RBI had hiked interest rates, at which banks park their short term funds with the central bank and vice versa by 0.25 per cent each, leading to increase in interest rates by some banks.

To make up for the slowing down of investment that certain interest rate sensitive areas may witness, India should facilitate pumping of funds in other areas, he suggested.

Would an employer be able to find out where I've worked just by looking up my social security number? Do they do that? Would it show up on a backround check? Or is that just for criminal history?

Will it be any faster getting a voucher since I already live in public housing? I also live in a fairly small community, will that help speed things along? Is it possible to get a voucher with no income at all?

I am in the process of relocating to Kuwait to join my husband and I wanted to know if the country had many jobs for Americans. I have a BA in Business Administration and a background in HR. I was recently in Kuwait and was told that company's would not hire me because I was American. I just want to find out what my options are before I make the big move.

Negotiating to purchase a home, need help to know best way to be successful. House on the market for > 7 months, originally 350k, gradually reduced to 315k. Sale due to death of spouse, and seller buying new condo, with 2 new mortgages. I offered 260k because her orig mortgage 6 years ago was for 158k, & I added 100k to it to motivate her to sell since one of her new notes is for 100k. Tax assessment is 287k.(all figures obtained from courthouse) She countered with 305k, I offered 267.5k. My real estate agent conveyed there was frustration on the buyer and agent's part, and they brought up a recent appraisal which reported around 300k, and agent stated the seller might agree to reduce to 300. House needs work - new kitchen, paint including ceilings, carpet. Advice as to how I should proceed? I want this house, but am really starting to stretch my limits. Also, ideas on contingency that would give me an out up to closing? I think assessment is high, and need to get in for <285k. Thanks!

The investment bank is the best bank in the country, but is smaller than the conglomerate. I am very passionate about my finance and capital market skills, which I use in my current corporate finance job. Investment Banking may open up more opportunities for me in the future, while working in the conglomerate is a steady less-dynamic job. I want more excitement, but do I have to sacrific my currrent pay by 50%?
