I am in the process of relocating to Kuwait to join my husband and I wanted to know if the country had many jobs for Americans. I have a BA in Business Administration and a background in HR. I was recently in Kuwait and was told that company's would not hire me because I was American. I just want to find out what my options are before I make the big move.

I personally work for the American University of Kuwait and from the name I guess you can tell many of our employees are American. We have plenty of American companies in Kuwait and educational institutes that look for Americans, and the American military base also has many companies (non-military) for supplies and what not that I think you can find work at. Americans are generally more highly paid than non-Americans so that might be a factor in not finding a job too easily. Albeit you probably will find a job as American education is considered of a higher quality to Middle Eastern people. If you are thinking along the lines of accounting companies then you should know that Ernst and Young as well as Deloitte both have branches in Kuwait that thrive on Americans.

Should you require any more information please do not hesitate to message me through this website and I would be glad to provide you with more information as best as I can.

I am a Kuwaiti and I live in Kuwait and I have lived in the US for a while so I think that I do I understand your situation.

Best of luck with your relocation
