I was recently let go from a job. I was there for more than three months, but according to the manager, the first three weeks were training (this was news to me, and no agreement was signed to this accord). When I called the Ministry of Labour - they informed me that I am owed a week's pay and if I do not receive this, then I can make a claim etc.. etc..
Also, I was let go on the phone when I was at home, and was told that they would not pay me for the hours already worked until I returned their key - which I sent via registered mail . Again, Ministry of Labour informed me that it is illegal to hold money that was already earned.
I have informed my former manager of this via email and also sent this by fax - that was this morning - no news yet, but what would my next step be if they refuse either?
