I received 6 $500 American Express Traveler's checks via FedEx.. I cashed 2 at the bank and paid for other goods and services with the remaining ones. A month and a half later the bank told me that the Checks were counterfeit and that I owed them $1,000. I know I have to pay but should I be worried about legal action being taken against me? None of the other merchants have notified me yet. Should I go to them first? Please, serious answers only.
