Im getting one on the 28th...is it hard to maintain? Share your thoughts/stories

I am naturally very dark haired(almost black), but was blond a few years ago for about three years. It looked good, but was very expensive and hard to look after(has to be done professionally for it to look any good I think) anyway, I fancied a bit of a change, but I'm not really one for having highlights or 'stripey' hair, you know, I like sorta blanket colour, so it's either really dark or really blond. It's nearly to my waist, and I know the bleach will pretty much ruin it, but I used to get so much more attention as a blond, even though all my friends are saying don't do it!!!
What do you think? Or any others suggestions?

I am a guy and when my hair gets long I get this little flip in the back. Anybody know how to get rid of that. I have tried gel but it dosen't help. Strong hair gels please.

I want to showcase the tattoo between my shoulderblades and am wearing a halter top, so I want to wear my hair up. Ponytails are too casual, but everything else seems so...overdone! I'm not overly girly, but I want to look nice without looking trussed up like a thanksgiving turkey. I know it's a weird question to ask on here, but...anyone good with hair? : P

I want to dye the bottome layer of my hair black with a home dying kit and keep the top blonde when i was younger i died my whole head brown well tried to and it turned orange... Do you think that using a home dying kit just to dye the bottom black will scrue up my hair my boss said that you cant screw up black help should i just use a home dying kit?

I dont have any lemon juice...so i cant use it...any other ideas/? would bleach turn it orange or something? i just want 4 or 5 little streaks so i dont want to go buy hairdye, eaither.

I always use a straightener to get my hair straight and it's going to damage my hair more..I need another way to get it straight. Any ideas?

Oh and i've used like shampoo thats supposed to make your hair more straight and stuff but my hair is already a little wavy, but it looks crappy so I always straighten it to make it look better, so maybe just with a little something it could be more straight, which isn't far from the way it naturally is.
