My mother's hair is thick but I inherited my grandmother's fine thin hair. Will styling my hair in microbraids damage my hair or edges if it is not thick enough to hold them?

I blow dry and straighten my hair every day and as told to use a product to protect my hair from the heat. I wanted something very light that wouldn't coat my hair or make it feel like straw so i tried Tresemme heat tamer and loved it at first but lately it has been drying ot my hair. I was wondering if anyone has found another heat protection spray that really works to keep hair healthy but isn't too thick.

I have naturally dark brown hair, it been bleached numerous times but I want to take it one step further. I would really love to get my hair 'paper WHITE', has anyone gone this blonde and any suggestions of how I would go this light? I have pretty short hair so damage shouldnt be a problem. A home colour would be preferential but I dont want it to go wrong. Please help!!!!
